Fritz Höffeler, born in 1964, is a certified biologist. Additionally he studied educational science focusing mainly on didactics of biology. After working several years as biologist in research and development he started to look for a possibility to combine science and didactics with his graphical skills. In 1999 he formed an idea, a concept and a name for it: ART FOR SCIENCE.

Being a member of the European Association of medical and scientific Artists he was affiliated in the Encyclopaedia of contemporary Illustrators by 2009. And he is a “firm freelancer” for Spektrum der Wissenschaft (the German edition of Scientific American) as illustrator in the field of Life Science for many years.

Besides the occupation at ART FOR SCIENCE he accomplished several own projects, e.g.:

• Exhibition “Cell World” in the Institute for clinical Research and Development (Hamburg/Germany),
• Displays for the “Exhibition of contemporary Illustrators from Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland” (Branzoll/Italy),
• Publication of “Image Database for Cytology” and “Image Database for Gene Expression” at publishing house Harri Deutsch,
• Publication of the exposes “The apparatus of the Apoptosis” and “No chance for Immunity: Cold Viruses Strains” in Biologie in unserer Zeit,
• Publication of the exposé “The small Difference” (together with Inge Kronberg) in Unterricht Biologie
